how to remove the timing gear?

ya im taking my car apart once again. so ******. but i need to fix the huge oil leak that i have and fix the timing most likely. but when i do that i want to change out the crank seal. so how would i remove the time gear so that i can get to the crank seal.

You will need to use the damper puller you used to remove the crankshaft damper, but you will need to get a second bolt that looks just like the long bolt that you removed from the lower timing belt cover. It is an 80mm long M6 bolt that you can find at a good hardware store.

You may want to search the Forum's pages as there have been more than a few discussions on this same topic. I and others have discussed methods to remove the old seal and install the new one. The $6-8 National 710220 (yes, I know it's listed as a timing cover seal, but it) is an exact repalcement for the OEM seal.

I've always used the timing gear puller that I've borrowed from Autozone. On my ATX, I had a **** of time finding a M6x80mm bolt, and the only M6 I could find long enough was like 120mm. I just used the one bolt from the timing cover and spacers on the long bolt. Now, I'm enlightened enough to own a MTX. You'll also want to use washers on the bolts so you don't damage the heads of the bolts.
