Better yet would be to follow the service manual procedure.

As far as ease of replacement, it all depends on your mechanical skill, experience level and motivation.

For an entry level wrench turner who is highly motivated to save cash on labor, it can be done in a day given the correct parts on hand and a few additional tools. An experienced wrench on this engine could easily do it in a couple of hours.

It will take about a day of your time if you haven't done it before. You have to take off a lot of stuff to get to it. If you go ahead and do it, make sure you don't crimp the o-ring that seals it up on the tube that leads to the engine. The o-ring can also slip off of the tube and cause a leak. I recommend testing the seal with water before putting it back together.
