I picked up a couple of doors at they junkyard to replace my rusting ones. I have taken every nut/bolt/screw out but cannot figure out how to:

a) Put the window down so I can remove rubber scuff and paint without having to put the doors on the car and hook up power.

b) Swap my existing locks.

I don't know how this could be explained/described in writing but I would really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

A) it's a matter of just applying a power supply and ground to the correct wire harness on the door...... I have a book on the electrical schmetaics, so if that's what you want to do, i'll page througt it, scan it, and send it to you.

B) are you just talking about the key tumblers, where you insert your key? Well, with an aged car, it's prolly not gonna be fun with the rust, but it actually is a simple process. The tumbler isn't held on by much, just a retaining clip. If you can look up at the back of the tumbler from the inside of the door, there is going to be this little rod going to it (linkage to lock/unlock the door), along with this little retaining clip linky .... , but it's got a flat edge/flap on it, of which you need to slide off/back. Then the tumbler should basically just fall out of the front of the door!

Good luck... if you need more info i can give ya some!

Thanks Camarok!

I was pretty sure that there was a way to do this without power!

But anyway that should be just as easy. It is a 90 if you would indeed send me the scan that would be great! I will e-mail you my proper address.

Any suggestions for power other than a car battery?
