I replaced all springs and shocks on my 93 MTX with J code(89 spec springs) and all hardware. I also had an alignment done after this on the car. I recently took a long trip with the car through PA and the mountains and the car seemed to do a hoola movement when I entered curves to the right. The back end of the car seems to sway a but only to the right. I checked to make sure everything was tight and everything seemed good. I don't have any noise from the wheel bearing but is there a way to check and see if the wheel bearing has any play? I'm not too sure where to go from here? Any Suggestions? Do I have to cheange the sway bar to match the 89 spec springs? I replaced both endlinks also when I did the springs.

To check the wheel bearings for play you can jack the car off the ground and grab the tire at the top and bottom or front and rear edges and try to rock the tire and wheel in the bearings. There should not be any obvious play in the bearings.

Your siuation sounds more like something was not tightened back up during the alignment. Could you take it back to the shop that did the alignment and have them check all the bolting for tightness? They should also verify their alignment is still where they left it. If not, something has obviously moved.

The swaybars only affect how much body roll you get - they don't know how to do the hula.

I put my car up on my hoist tonight and nothing seemed loose I retightened the pinch bolt tightened the endlinks but I could not see anything obvious which had been touched which was loose. The problem is in the rear of the car somewhere. All the bushings ie sway bar, bar that runs to subframe and ladder bars all are cracked and look rough. I don't want to change them if I don't have too though, I probably would end up breaking half the bolts. I looked at the tires to make sure that the tread wasn't seperating; they both looked good. Thanks for the reply. If anyone wants to learn the hula you can borrow my car for a day!

I was referring to the adjustable parts of the suspension that the shop touched to effect the alignment: the rear eccentric control arm bolts on the H-box, the front upper strut mounting nuts.

my 93 seems to have the same problem. i only feel it when i enter a right hand curve. it feels fine if you go throught the curve normally, but if you kinda turn sharper it feels like the back end is swinging out further. feels like the back left wheel is moving. also if you look at the car from behind the left wheel looks like top is cambered toward the center of the car. more than the right wheel of course. what could this be i am pretty knowledgable about this car but i would like some tips on this. thanx.

You guys may be describing the effects of worn strut mounting brackets. These are the rubber isolated brakets that the top of the strut bolts through. The rubber cracks and allows the top of the strut to move in the bracket. This changes the camber and the handling. Lift the plastic caps on the front strut towers and check to make sure the struts are centered in the bracket. Also look for cracks in the rubber.
