Anyone know how to hook up coaxial DVC speakers?

I also have a nice 4-channel JBL amp. What would be the way to hook this up to my speakers since I have the factory amp by-passed or would it sound better with deck power?

If its a DVC speaker, then I would try and run both positives together and both negatives together on a channel. This will bridge it down to 2 ohms (if each voice coil is 4 ohms, which is most likly is).

You could try to hook it up to the head unit first and see how you like it. If you want it louder, then wire the amp up.

That's the way I hooked them up.
I'm still considering the amp but gonna wait till I change the door speakers from factory.

I can't seem to find any real info on these on Blaupunkt's website. I'm assuming it's a 5x7 with dual coils for the woofer. The way you wire it is going to depend on the impedance of the coils and the amp's capability. If you've got the manual for the speakers it should tell you the impedance. If not measure the dc resistance and get back to us. We also need the amp you're going to power them with.

Each coil is 4 ohm so if I wire up both coils +to+ -to- it will be 2ohm correct? The speakers are 4 ways. A 5x7 and 3 tweets and the 5x7 is a DVC.

The amp is a 4-channel JBL 200 watt I think. GTQ200 4/3/2 channel is what is on it. On the back it says:
37wx4(4ohm) 50wx4(2ohm) 100wx2(4ohm)

Yes, if each coil is 4 ohms and you parallel them you will get a 2 ohm load. Now is there seperate leads for the tweeters? You'll definitely want to use the amp. The stock amp won't appreciate the 2 ohm load nor would a headunit and the headunit probably doesn't put out any more than the stock amp anyway.

On the speakers on the diagram on the magnet it shows one side for full range and looks like the connections go to the tweets and the 5x7, the other says Subwoofer input and just goes to the 5x7.
There is a picture that shows to run it parallel for full range or the deck to one side and amp to the sub side for subwoofer. That is what lost me.

I don't have any paper work on these. They came in a car I got for a parts car.
I am now awaiting my other speakers for my doors then I'll hook it all up and run all new wires from the amp to the speakers.
I guess I will need 2 sets of RCA's for the amp?

Is there a good way to mount an aftermarket amp in the trunk?
