A buddy of mine was test driving my 89 SHO yesterday, and I'm worried now. We were sitting at an intersection, and he pulls out, only to see a car about to t - bone us. He matts it in 1st gear; the rpms shoot up to 7500 and he switches to 2nd only to bring them up to 7600 rps again. I know my car is getting old, and I try to baby it. I'm worried I might have screwed something up. My Check Engine light came on, but she is driving just fine it seems.
Can someone give me some advice on my situation?

Well... at least you weren't hit.
60K is up to date so it should be fine.
Did you replace the O2's?

I will try to pull the codes tomorrow at work, and it was just a joy ride. He has a 98 Camaro Z28, and he wanted to test the SHO

Yeah, thank God we didn't get hit. I have not replaced the O2's yet; they have been sitting in the floorboards for about two weeks now. I really need to get that done.

update: Sorry, the car wants to show the check engine light sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. It only comes on when I give the car a good pull or two. I'm thinking that it might be the O2 sensor codes coming back. I will still post the codes as soon as I get the chance.
