The rubber "bushings" in the cam covers that the washer sits on top of and then the cam bolt goes through...can they be removed from one cam cover and used in another? Of course assuming that they are in good condition.

If they can, what is the best way to remove them without damaging them? If not...where can I get more?

Thanks in advance guys. wink

Yes they can Beth. Just pry them up with A screwdriver they will come off. If you need some let me know. I think I still have the adress from before :p

Going by memory, I believe you would push them out from the inside of the cam cover. I never removed them, but I did look at them last week when I was doing Pat's (rendyx) upper 60k.

Can you post the address of the company from whom you can obtain these bushings? I did a search to see if I could find the address if you posted it before, but I may have used the wrong keywords.

Thanks.

Thanks muchly guys. I figured that they could be reused, but wanted to ask just in case. No need in removing something that is suggested to not use over again.

Chuck...you always got my back don't ya? wink I did pop off the ones for the washer and they look to be just fine. I also popped off the 3 from the inside of each of the cam covers and they look to be a bit worn...some of the rubber coating is worn off. If you have a set of those I'd gladly buy them from ya. Just email me with a price.

The car is coming together nicely. I'll post pics once I get everything installed. If it looks this good off the car, it has to look simply scrumptious when I get everything put on. :D

Edit: I could also use a set of the connecting "rubbers" for the intake. :D

(hehe..."she said rubbers")

Just for information, those bushings are only available with the bolts and Ford is proud of those new bolts (about $21 each). The used supply chain is the way to go as offered above.

Yikes! Glad I have 3 complete sets of the bolts then. :D I'll definitely use the used supply chain. Thanks for the heads up Scott.

Well Beth, no worries. I have about 75-100 of those "rubbers" (heh heh, I said rubbers), and about the same number of bolts. :)

You're covered.

Bizzy,

If those, Ah "rubbers" are not cracked, split, or otherwise damaged, but have shrunk a little with age, then try SDPATT's "O" ring trick to improve their sealing ability.

"Rubbers", "cam covers", "scrumptious", the forum is going in a whole new direction!

Beth, please be sure to use a torque wrench when you install those cam cover bolts with the rubbers on them.

Those bolts are brittle, and the threaded end tends to break easily if they are overtorqued. That kind of thing tends to set your schedule back a bit. rangerj

Thanks for the advise Ranger, I'll do Scott's trick to renew them before I have them installed. No worries about the cam cover bolts...Fred is installing them for me. thumbs_u But I appreciate your input and concern.

Bizzy,

Fred is going to put the "valve covers" on for you? How about if Fred watches and coaches you through it? If you're real careful you won't break a nail! :D

I'm teasing you Beth, but I thought this was your project. rangerj thumbs_u

Oh, I fully intend on being right there with him wrenching away. thumbs_u I'm totally comfortable with most jobs, but on some of the work I want to watch or be coached for sure.
