Okay, I have a stock clutch and TOB and an 8 lb fidanze flywheel. If I am going ******* it and shift between any gear, and I mean any gear, when I give the car gas and disengage the clutch at the same time the clutch doesn't grab it just revs up without grabbing anything. If I am running it hard and shift without giving it any gas and disengaging without any gas it will hook up and go. Basically I can't ride the clutch at all it will just rev up. It works fine in normal driving conditions even at dead stops. I just can't go ******* it and try and ride the clutch. And when I make these quick shifts I mean it is really quick, I just give the car gas and let the clutch out fast. It won't grab. What is wrong? Is it because of the lighweight flywheel? Is the clutch bad? The clutch and TOB have about 2000 miles on them. My car also has a 3.2 installed and some other performance parts. Any input would be appreciated.

It's been reported before that the Fidanza flywheel has less grab than the stocker, and combined with a higher torque engine and stock clutch, Slipping can occur. Chances are you need a grippier disc/heavier PP, or go back to the stock flywheel.

seeing that I don't yet own a fidanza, I can't comment on the grip but here is a question.

Does it feel like the clutch wants to almost completely disengage just by depressing the clutch pedal a very small amount. Such as 1-2 inches?

Although it seems a little unlikely in 2000 miles, but did you properly torque the bolts on the flyweel & clutch. There was a bulletin out for those bolts working themselves loose which caused the slippage and firm clutch feel at the very top of the pedal travel. it has a feeling of fully disengaging in the 1-2 inches of travel vs. a smooth engagement or disengagement along the full travel of the pedal. When you go to pull out at a stop sign, stop light, etc. does the pedal reach almost the whole way out nearly no grab and then grab all at once at the last bit of travel. If it is really bad, you might even get slippage during hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear due to the TOB constantly riding the spring fingers and only allowing partial pressure to be applied to the friction disc.

I'm by far no expert, just thought maybe this $.02 could help you out. Scott thumb

Clutch cable too tight? If the clutch releases during the first couple inches of pedal travel, you may have been able to tension the cable too much. While on your back under the dash, try lifting the pedal with one hand and pushing the light blue pawl forward with a finger on the other hand. You should feel spring pressure as you push with that finger. Release the pedal as you push the pawl to lock the pawl wth less tension on the cable. Now cycle the clutch pedal through full depression and full release a few times, lifting the pedal with only about 10 pounds of force each time the pedal is fully released.

Any change? If not, there is little friction between the clutch disk and the pressure plate and flywheel. New disk time.
