I have been trying to hook up the VAK but there are apparently some differences between the 96-97 and 98-99 models. The pictures that come with the hook-up shows connecting into the CCR or CCRM module. It stands for Constant Control Relay (Module).

The pictures show a piece that I do not or am not able to find anywhere near the battery. I have something in the same place that is similar but DEFINITLY not the same. From what research I have been able to do, I believe that I have the correct module but mine is WAY different. I have multiple relays under one lid instead of one single module that has a removable plug.

None of the wire colors are close to what I am supposed to be hooking into and there is no blue piece on the module where it unplugs.

Any of you guys know the correct color and location for the A/C cutoff wire for a 1998?

OK, some more to add.

I did confirm that there is a difference between the 1998 and the 1997. I had a friend bring his 97 over and the piece in the diagram is right there and exactly what the pics in the instructions show.

In it's place I have a single body unit similar to the main fuse box with a removable lid and 7 different relays in it. It does have a removable cover on it on the bottom as well to access the wires. I have one standard size relay and then six smaller ones as well.

Can anyone with the Ford Manual or CD for a 98 and up help me out here??

Another oddity here... I have a plastic MAF on mine and it is a 1998. shrug

Indeed looking at the Helm cd the '98s don't have a CCRM. They do have a relay control box under the hood somewhere though. From the diagram in the manual it looks like a typical automotive relay cube. Wire 386 which is a light blue wire is the one you want to interrupt.

This wire is coming from the PCM. The relay appears to be in the engine compartment fuse box.
