I am currently in the search phase of wheel buying for my SHO. I want to get a package that pushes the tires to edge of the wheel wells (gives the car a wider stance). I am not sure of what the offset would be. I talke with some of the local shops but I don't trust them because they deal mainly in German cars. Anyway, the wheel guy told me I could get the rear wheels at a different offset from the front wheels to push them to outside edge of the wheel well. He suggested that it would even give me more stability and was a common practice when they tune cars over here. Any nay sayers? Also, if his advise is sound, what would you recommend the offset to be. Currently he is suggesting 35mm in the rear and 38mm in the front. I'm getting 17s all around.

I have a 40mm offset all around and in the front its right on the edge of the fender, so if you can go with 40mm upfront and 35mm in the rear. You could get away with 40mm in the rear with spacers to give you that "right under the fender" look. I could never do that now considering my rear tires tuck in right next to the tread on my tire.
