I need a 4 door because I have a dog. I doubt I will be doing any modding. If I did just exhaust and intake only on the SHO. This will be my daily driver and often 60 minute commutes (30 min commutes each way) on weekends as well as an occasional road trip. I am aware the SHO would need water pump and accord will need timing belt. I have read either/or would cost a grand to have done. I do not work on cars at all nor do I have the desire to learn. I guess longevity, performance and creature comforts aka bells and whistles etc. is what I am trying to find as in the best bang for my buck (have also considered accord EXL with 3.5 V6 as well but not as many comforts as touring)

Any help/advice or experience with both cars I would love to hear about. I would merder (this app won’t let me use that word spelled “correctly‍”) out whichever one I decide on btw !

Thank you and Much Appreciated

Get the one with the most reliable uncomplicated powertrain. I would have to look at 3.5 reliability. Honda stuff has had some fluxuations over the past few years but generally very good engines. Then look at transmission. For a close friend, without a nice pile of cash for upkeep, I would usually recommend a Honda or Toyota with good displacement v-6 and up, and no turbo. Mo complex mo problems

The touring comes in CVT 6 speed or non CVT 6 speed auto, also comes in manual but very hard to find. Both these cars seem to be around 18k with 100k on odometer I am only looking at black and ALL the black ones are the most expensive color in either car. I do have money for upkeep I would never be in a situation where I could not afford to fix my car if you know what I mean even if I needed to replace engine. My license is currently revoked so I am researching without the opportunity to test drive currently. I am 5’9 145 lbs so I think may actually like the small cockpit seating people are mentioning or complaining about in the SHO. and I think the SHO is sexy AF on the other hand the accord touring are obviously reliable as **** and I think pretty sexy as well and I have read the Honda CVT is not even problematic like most other manufacturers and gets like 6 more mpg than the non and I read so much good about the Honda 3.5 v6. Obviously driving each is what I really need to do but going to do this research nonetheless

not a fan of cvts but if you maintain ocd-style should be ok. honda transmissions seem to be just as fluid change hungry as fords lol.

if the engine belongs to an established reliable family, you should be good. if it has been updated or revamped, i would tread carefully. watch some yt videos to help.

stay away from forced induction engines, yes even on hondas, and generally you are g2g. they have major issues with fuel dilution.

The SHO isnt a bad car by any stretch, but it is a needy mistress. Almost any Honda by reputation is a set it and forget it kind of car, the SHO will need consistent attention. The maintenance schedule is much more strict to avoid failure, and when failures do happen they can get costly especially if you dont plan to do any of the work yourself. I have a 2 hour commute (1 hour each way) and I also needed the 4 doors for kids, so I use my SHO every single day and have racked some miles and have spent half as much on repairs as I have my car payment over a year of ownership, and thats with me doing the repairs myself, no shops. Based on what you said youre looking for I would definitely go with the Honda, like @Vestin112 said, this isnt the life for you, its a bittersweet battle
