I need help I have a 94 ATX with a 3.2. My problem originaly was the engine would stall and would restart after a while. the tach would quit working. Eventually the problem got worse. That issue was fixed with a new cam sensor and ignition module. Now what I have going on with engine is it starts but at the coil pack I get no input signals from the ignition module inputs to the ignition module are good. The engine fires on all six at idle but as the rpms increase I loose 2 sometimes 3 cylinders. I get a 215 and a 216 code but that is it. The grounds have been checked and are good. Crank sensor was also checked and found to be good. The parts that have been replaced so far have been the cam sensor, coil pack, ignition control. It has a new battery and alternator (different issue). I am at my wits end with this thing. headbang
If there is any body out there that can help me with this problem please help this poor lost soul.

What exactly have you done/used to defitnaly diagnose the no input signal from the ignition module?

Have you checked the coil pack for its output power or even any type of spark by pulling each of the spark plug wires?

You're saying the car would stall out, then you wouldn't be able to start it for awhile? That's a classic crankshaft sensor problem. I don't know how it was tested, but there really isn't an accurate way to do so. How old are the plug wires and the plugs? Also, make sure the ground strap from the P-side rear of the intake is securely fastened.

Back in Michigan ... again.
Moved to gen I/II Engine, Exhaust, Drive Line & AC systems thumb

From what you described initially your problem sounds VERY much like a bad crankshaft sensor. Car stalling then starting up later, tach not working are both telltale signs of a bad crank sensor.

Perhaps the new ignition module is bad...causing your current troubles and you've just been lucky with the crank sensor since the work? It's been my experience that when you fix one problem only to have another one hit RIGHT after the fix then something is usually amiss with the fix.

How old are the plugs and wires?

there is no out putfrom the coil pack on 2 sometimes 3 cylinders. the ignition control module was back probed the inputs to it were good it is the outputs that seem to be wrong going in to the coil pack. I have had 2 new control modules on this car. I do not get it I have the goesinza with no goesoutza. Basic elcetronic theroy tells me the ignition module is bad. I have checked all the grounds and they are good. I got ticked off and took it to the garage 2 weeks ago and they are also stumped. The car starts fine and does not shut off anymore. Now I have the no fire on those 2 coils.

Coils are fired in pairs by the DIS. Have you identified which cylinders are not firing? Have you observed your TACH during misfire sequences?

Have you run a KOER test including the Cylinder Balance Test (CBT)? These test will provide important clues in your diagnosis.
