Hello,

I spoke to SinisterSHO about what people run for pads, and was wondering what your experiences are with the Hawk HPS pads.

Thanks,

I've never used them myself, but FWIW a lot of taurus owners over on TCCA love them. I've heard nothing but good about them.

That is good to hear.

We have bought a bunch of these pads at a deep discount and will be offering them here as soon as we get permission from Bizzy to do so.

I think many will be interested since the prices are so low we can't even post them.

More info to come.

They stop very, very, very well. They have great initial bite, and they don't fade.

Downsides: they dust more than Kansas in the '20s. They do also squeeeeeeeeak quite a bit. It's to be expected, I suppose...

Are you talking about the HPS or HP+, because the HPS should be very quiet and have minimal dust.

Sounds like you are talking about the HP+, lots of dust and occasional noise.

can't remember; which ones are for street use? I don't have the track pads.

Keep in mind, though, I'm comparing mine to my wife's Akebono ceramics... which, as far as I know, are made out of felt.

I've been using the hps for street and track. I put them on last year before the convention, ran the track all day at Grattan, daily drove the car about 5k since, ran Gingerman w/ the TCCA alllll day, and still have them on. Gonna check them before the Autobahn track day w/ Northwoods Shelby Club at the end of the month.
I'm in for some at a discount!!!

We are still waiting for Bizzy to reply to our PM / Email. We have the pads but don't want to post an official "for sale" thread before getting permission...

Running HP+ here, great pads performance wise. Only downside as it has already been said they dust a lot and generally every car ive seen them on squeal when stopping lightly.

I believe Beth is dealing with a lot of personal things right now so please be patient. BTW I run the HB11f.610 HAWK HPS pads and they are a little bit better than my old PBR's. They are a little squeaky and dust up a lot more than I would like but they get the job done well. Bites well when heated but initial cold start has a longer stopping distances.

I use HP+ pads on the track. Two days of driving, and they're done. More expensive pads perform just the same.

If that is the case, are there any other admins that would be able to make the decision regarding "Group Buy" or vendor posts? We have a limited number of pads and would like to pass the savings on to you guys.

These were similar to my own experiences with the HPS pads on the front (96+ upgrade). The squeeking was not that objectionable (worst when cold), and the dusting was managable if a good wheel wax was used. While I currently run semimetallic Ford pads (04+ Taurus part no. IIRC) I have a brand new set of HPS pads on hand in the event that I do any open tracking/HPDE events. I would also say that the better inital bite of the HPS was a plus for autox.

The Hawk HPS is not a race pad. It is good for street and autoX.

However, the choice of pads is so poor for the SHO that if you are running stock power, you can use them for beginner HPDE events.

I think most of the track people have upgraded to the cobra setup, which we have race pads for.

Poor choice of pads? I thought brakes pads were one of the areas that we actually had choices... Porterfield, Carbotech, Akebono, EBC, Hawk, etc.
