Ok, so goin on 2yrs ago, I bought my '95 MTX, with gun metal slicers. At first I wasn't too thrilled with the look of them, but they grew on me VERY quickly :thumbs_u: I have yet to see them on another car, though I have seen a pic or two on here w/them. Anyone know anything about them? I'm the 3rd owner of my car, and I got it from a collision place that picked it up at an auction(they swore it wasn't in an accident, one of these days I'll carfax the thing), so I have no clue as to the history of the car. Is it just a coincidence that there are a few other gun metal painted slicers out there or what? Any insight anyone can offer would be appreciated, thanx!

They never were sold in gunmetal, so the previous owner had to have done it custom.

Yeah, that's what I figured, it was just a custom job. I definately love mine now too, I think mine are a bit darker, wish I had a picture of them to put on here... oh well, other things first...too many other things if you ask me...

Gunmetal Slicers

I just did mine recenltly and I love them. They really accent the emerald green. I then painted my intake (runners) and valve covers with the plenums painted in silver.

Wheel up close. Just had my wheels balanced today and didn't think to take the picture of the wheel that didn't have the weight removed.

Left side of car. Very dirty and in need of a good scrubbin'.

Nice clean pic of the intake and valve covers.

Overall, I've been very happy with the gunmetal paint. It was so easy to do too. I just went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up the Duplicolor graphite wheel paint as well as the clear that goes with it. Take a scotchbrite pad and scuff up the wheels, clean with a tack cloth, spray a few coats of paint, and within an hour or two spray one or two (preferably two) coats of clear. Also, when I e-mailed duplicolor about the temps it can withstand, they said 150 degrees so I figured it would be fine on the valve covers and intake. Held up so far. Anyways, IMHO, I really like it.

Nice, looks like the sister to mine  my wheels are darker though, and the previous owner went the other way with the side marker lamps, blacking them out. Oh yeah, and it's lowered a bit too. I just got a digital camera a couple days ago, so hopefully when I get back from FL in a week&half I'll get some pics of mine on here.

Soon, I'll be making my red 92 MTX, into a black 92 MTX, with gun metal slicers (via hypercoat, it's pretty close to me). Konis and Eibachs will make it hug the tires well, and a stock style spoiler. And the gun metal/silver intake is exactly the look I've been searching for. I was debating red/black, or maybe, red/white, but that is perfect

That's right, I forgot that it was your write-up that I followed in order to do mine. Very good one if I might add. I love how both of ours came out, though I did my brake calipers in silver to match my intake plenums instead of the ford blue you used. Cya!
