Yeah, I'm getting really anxious to finish it up, going to be a lot of fun. Where abouts are you at in MN? The GTX's are quite rare, I think I got the only one in the Duluth area, even got a few friends with GTP's and they didn't even know what a GTX was, made me laugh.

I'm in Champlin and the GTX is a Black one and yes it is real as I have talked to the guy once and I really wanted a ride but he did not have time for a few moments of joy. So when you finish it my only request is a ride so maybe we can plan a meet and make that happen....:salute:

Nothing and Neither did my 1st post that you replied to, which was referencing Tyler's post right before it and your reply to that had nothing to do with either. As far as what those posts referred to, being a good street car or DD, isn't generally a factor. I was replying to what you posted to me which had nothing to do with your car, nor did my post.

Wasn't knocking your project either, I like that style GP and hope to see it when your done, sound like it'll be pretty nice :thumb:. I was simply replying to your statement and saying 500hp doesn't automatically make a vehicle hard to street or a bad dd as you seemed to be saying, not all boosted cars are good street/DD cars either. They're same as I said about n/a, all depends on what it's built for.

Also, for WIW, most of the 2 previously mentioned vehicles stickered at $45-55k stock and many could be had brand new for well below that. $33 in my case. Prob wouldn't have it otherwise. Don't know where you got 90k, Vipers maybe?, which are not that good for the street and def not good DD's are up around 90k+, but not the Viper trucks.

:salute:

I just meant the whole topic in general starting at the 1st post about the DD's. I know they are out there, from the factory, with motors that are over 8 liters. But the SRT10 trucks aren't anything amazing, 500hps, a lot of weight, my car will be faster than those. What I meant was your average production motor, think a 5.0, would take a ton to hit 500whp, be pretty hard to drive, LS2 or LS3 wouldn't be too bad, but your most likely going to have a decently loppy idle. Either way, I got what I got, not trying to compete with those, granted there is a mid 90's Viper around here I want to try and get a run with sometime :D any amount of power is possible when you tack of 4 more cylinders than most cars on the road have, and 2 more than any muscle car has, and a ton of displacement. Just saying, the average V8 isn't going to be the easiest street driver at 500 whp, not really counting in the rarely V10's or V12's.

I'm in Champlin and the GTX is a Black one and yes it is real as I have talked to the guy once and I really wanted a ride but he did not have time for a few moments of joy. So when you finish it my only request is a ride so maybe we can plan a meet and make that happen....:salute:

Oh yeah, they are around, and I would be happy to give some rides to anyone if I have the chance, wi;; have to try for a meet sometime this summer.

Didn't get a ton more done this week, snowed on Sat so I didn't work on it Sun, Mon I didn't end up having a ton of time, so just messed with gauges and a few other things and left tearing in the subframe and such till this next weekend. Anyways, got a bunch of new parts sitting here and messed around with some, so heres where it sits.

Box o Parts

Whats in the Box

New Large Throttlebody

Another shot with the adapter plate

The new Pillar Pod with gauges in it

New Foglights, aftermarket ones, but they bolted right into the factory housings, saved me some fab time.

Now need everyones opinions, to paint the TB or not to paint it. It adds to the silver black theme, but if I painted the TB and left the adapter silver, that would also. So tell me what you guys think.

Oh and while I was out there, I looked out in the field and got sad, so had to take some pictures of my precious :(

I kinda of agree, but I'm still debating, mostly because when I see other people with painted valve covers and SC, then I see a non-painted TB, I just think that they didn't want to spend the time and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

ZZP seems to know what they are doing, I try to order from Mike at the Wbody store as much as possible since he frequents here and has owned SHOs.

I really like my car, its fun to drive, maybe not quite as fun as my SHO's, but thats because it's an auto. Doesn't make secondaries noise, but I get to hear the SC whistle.

Well little update, new SC pulleys showed up and they are ludicrous
ludicrousspeed.png

The factory pulley for these cars is a 3.8", which is what I was running even though I could have gone much smaller. I had a 3.5" that came with the car I was going to put on. But with the up and coming mods, I bought a 2.6" and a 2.7" (as you can see they are labeled in the pictures. The large one is the 3.5" (remember the factory pulley is another 3 tenths larger). These things are tiny, it makes me cackle like im mad with power.

Pulleys.jpg

They are so small, the 2.6" actually can fit inside the 3.5"... :D god this things gonna whine like nothing other when its done.

Also this last week I dropped the subframe and yanked the trans out, replacing my back header gasket and swaping out plugs. Also I had to hack off my front subframe bolt, the nut on top was turning, need to figure out a plan there, But otherwise, hoping new trans goes in on sunday.

**EDIT** - Got more done today

Well today was a big day, finally some decent results, everything didn't go quite as planned, but the subframe and trans are back up in the car, I will deal with my minor frustrations as I go, now just time to piece it back together, feel pretty good right about now. Anyways here's some pics.

Here is sits, where I work on it.
Car-Fix-Side.jpg

And here's another shot showing my SHO's and Lincoln becoming lawn ornaments.
Car-Fix-Front.jpg

And heres the sexy new trans all cleaned up with a nice coat of silver on it. Wish I would have had time to do the block in Black to complete the Black/Silver combo, but need to get this done.
Built-Trans.jpg

Here's the subframe all cleaned up, wanted to redo this in black, has some surface rust, but oh well, will do that some other time.
Cleaned-Subframe.jpg

And finally the money shot.
Subframe-Up.jpg

Only had time to tighten the subframe bolts, need to tilt the trans a bit to get the bellhousing bolts start, but it was getting dark, the trans was in the car, so called it a day.

I managed to get out to my parents today and grab my battery charger, here's some sexy shots of the Belt Wrap kit, god it's nice.

really sorry to bring this back but my friend at school has a GTX that she bought earlier this year. pretty nice cars. hers was dynoed at my school unfortunatly the machine is very dated... it came up with a number of 245 to the wheels. we are not really sure what was all done to the car (previous owner listed it as being 300hp plus on his ad...) i forget where she lives now but will be in st cloud for school this fall so watch for it. it is dark red 4 door with aftermarket 17" rims.

also did you get your car going? looks like you have gotten quite a bit done since you started!

i also have a grand prix sitting in my yard with a blown tranny... but its not gonna be my problem for much longer. due to title issues it will be going back to the previous owner.

I thought all real GTX's were 2 doors? I've seen 4 door cars with GTX badges, but sometimes they aren't even supercharged. I guess that would support the previous post about it being an add-on package to GTPs, GTs and even SEs......

Well the cars been running for a few weeks now, I had to run all new vacc lines, I had a bad boost bypass valve, and my TPS was shot. I fixed the 1st and 2nd issues, but the 3rd I have tracked down to a bad wiring harness I think, so not sure if that will get done this year. At idle my TPS voltage is too high and at WOT it is too low, so when I'm at 100% throttle the car thinks its only at 70%, so it runs too lean when WOT, and because of that it couldn't be tuned. But it still screams and will blow the tires off up to 45mph, without power braking, in the vids below thats just me standing still at 0mph then hitting the gas.

Enjoy the whine, the SC is quite loud, and all those vids were taken with the windows up and the moonroof shut, the M90 just screams now.

Most likely has something done to it, a GTX only has Ram Air over a GTP, maybe good for 5hp and they are originally rated for 240 flywheel hp.

I was just down in Austin, I assume your talking about Adam Murphy, he's the guy who was tuning my car, but I had things I had to take care of, his car is very nice, but I think he ran an 11.99 with it, either way, under a 12's pass.

I thought all real GTX's were 2 doors? I've seen 4 door cars with GTX badges, but sometimes they aren't even supercharged. I guess that would support the previous post about it being an add-on package to GTPs, GTs and even SEs......

GTX's also came in 4 doors, and GTX was an addon package, I've even see a GTX that was sold as a GTP in 1998 then sent into SLP to be converted a GTX in 1999.
