I can't seem to find anything about which filters are good or bad in a search so time to ask. I found a fram filter on summit racing, but is the fram filter a nono? What would be a good filter to use if fram is bad, I plan just dropping the pan and replacing the 6 qts of fluid or w/e comes out and putting in a new filter. I need this tranny to last as long as possible so is there anything else I can do becides half new fluid, a new filter, add a second trans cooler, and don't beat the **** out the trans? BTW how hard is this o change (the filter); if there is one thing I don't know a lot about its transmissions.:thankyou:

the napa premuim trans filter are good (the one's with the rubber gasket )

when you do the filter change I would install a drain plug into the pan, then after running it for 3,000 mile i would drain and refill, if your having any problems sticking valves ect ect
I would add to the refill Lucas Transmission Fix

Lucas Transmission Fix is a non-solvent formulas that stops slip, hesitation and rough shifting in worn transmissions and completely eliminates most seal leaks. Use in any transmission for preventative maintenance.Use also in light duty manual transmissions to increase shifting ease and transmission life.
Key Benefits

* Contains no solvents
* Lowers operating temperatures and stops foaming
* Can be added to existing fluid without draining any out
* Effective in an extremely high percentage of cases

really easy to do, unbolt bottom pan, take filter out, clean bottom of pan and magnet, clean old gasket off of pan or trans and reinstall :shrug: not that hard. Make sure the clip holds the filter tight. bout it.

sticking valve what? lol now you lost me, the trans shifts fine doesn't slip or kick, as far as I can tell it works great. This is just regular maintance since I just got the car 3500 miles ago and I doubt the guy ever changed the trans fluid. I have herd changing all the trans fluid out can make it blow up if its old, and I did a trans fluid change on my old 95 gl and the trans blew up a few thousand miles later, so I might buy into that whole thing although it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe drop the pan change 6 qts, the filter and add some Lucas is my best bet.
