OK, this one is stumping me and my g/f's brother, who installs car stereos as a side job. Anyway, I have all stock in my car, with the exception of the head unit (Pioneer DEH-P1100), and the subwoofer (10" Jensen tube from Wal-Mart). The tube actually sounds nice, but for some reason it sounds the best if there is a lot, I mean A LOT of airspace around the sub. With the trunk closed and all windows up and everything, there is virtually no bass. But when I open the trunk, or even a car door, the sound gets much fuller and deeper. I've tried a few different positions for the tube with little or no change in effect. And also, it's a ghetto-rigged sub since it's 4 channel and only using the factory sub amp. Is this sub just poorly designed, or is there something I'm missing? TIA
