If you have "cam issues" that require replacement, it is already too late for the rest of the motor as you find out the hard way.

"Hey whats that clicking noise?

Braaakkkkkk...

"hey why wont my car start?"

"Oh you just need to replace the cams."

He may be one of the best in other stuff, but gen 3 sho cams he is misinformed. Not dissing the guy or anything, heck I'm a pretty good 60k dude, but I cant change a SHO clutch (yet). Doesnt make me a bad guy though.

Guys,

I tried to find someone with dodgy sprockets that we could do a test run on, but didn't have any joy.

The guys on the v8sho mailing list seem really knowledgable about this and a lot have done the welding themselves.

Don't really know what to suggest now. Any ideas?

We can use any cam and steel sprocket to play with. Can someone make a run to a junk yard and look for some in their scrap pile?

Yeah I think that there was a loctite solution for a while.

If someone tells me where the scrap yard is and exactly what to ask for and how much it would be I don't mind going down. I only just moved into the area and don't know much about cars.

And be warned. I only know that it should be a shaft with cam lobes on it and a sprocket at one end.

I am glad I found this thread...I am in Chandler AZ, and I need my cams welded too. I have a black '97 with 90k. I met a guy in a parking from TX with a black gen III, and we were talking about cam welding, but I don't have a white gen II, so it must not have been you, lol.

Hey Rav, what color is your car?

Really my car should be called FrakenSHO. It is a 98 white, but has the tailights of a 96 and nissan 200Z sidelights. Be an interesting story to tell when we all meet up.
