I received my white faced guages today.
After about 1.5 hours, they are done!!!
I'm not as electro-savvy as most, and I think that a greater knowledge of electronics would be a plus in this install.
First off, the cluster removal is simple, that took less than 10 minutes. I didn't remove the OE guage faces, as I didn't want to mess with the needle removal nor did I want to totally do away with anything should I need to return to stock form, so I affixed the new ones on top, the only problem this presented was some of the idiot lights do not match up as well, I'll get to this again later....
Second, you must wire a relay with a power/ground into the headlight switch, this again, wasn't too difficult but there are alot of wires back there, and the way this is wired up now, the indiglo section of the guages only come on when the headlights are on full ( parking lights will only illuminate the OE lights, meaning the interior of the odometer and so fourth. I think if one had a better knowledge of this, they might work properly, however, with the faces now being white, you can see them in just about any situation.
Third, they come with a switchable color ( hyperblue and green ) as well as a dimmer switch, DO NOT touch the back of this when on as you will light yourself up, if you know what I mean. I put some electrical tape on the back just in case. I also mounted this rather ugly switch under the dash, so it's more or less out of the way.
Anyways, lastly, it wasn't hard at all, somethings that make this kit slightly flawed, for one, some of the indicators don't match up, for example, the seatbelt idiot light is where the new guage face thinks the low coolant light should be, meaning that lights red for a few minutes as you start the car, everything esle appears to be where it needs to be.
The guages don't look as stock as I would have hoped, you can tell that they weren't as well made as the stock ones are.
All in all, it looks great, I'm happy with it so far and in dark they look cool as ****.
