GENIII Test and Tune racing

I went to a Test and Tune event yesterday and really enjoyed the wide variety of cars competing. I would love to run my SHO and for 15 bucks I can run as many times as I want. I know alot of you guys race but I really don't know much about this. Do the guys who stage the cars talk you through the initial process etc.? Any feedback or hints are appreciated.
