After recently purchasing a very clean 2011 SHO I am getting conflicting information on the internet of which generation this vehicle is. I see it listed as a GEN 4 and other sites reporting it as a GEN 6.

Yay candy's correct.

It does get confusing because the "Regular" Taurus trim levels do have 6 individual generations.

As far as the SHO (only), those are broken down as follows:

GEN1 = 1989 to 1991 MY's
GEN2 = 1992 to 1995 MY's
GEN3 = 1996 to 1999 MY's
GEN4 = 2010 to 2012 MY's
GEN5 = 2013 to 2019 MY's

Notice the gap above between 2000 and 2009 model years?

That is because the SHO was discontinued during those years, while the "regular" trim levels were still being built.

More great information thank you.
Any rumors of them producing the SHO again?

Well, as some may know, the Taurus has continued to live on, albeit mostly in China. It even got a refresh too boot! See below:

Taurus | China | English | Ford Media Center https://search.app/tASR1y7t8U1zAXv86

But since FMC has all but abandoned its entire fleet of cars, in favor of trucks exclusively (sans the Mustang, of course), I wouldn't expect any variant of a Taurus to return anytime soon. Yet alone, a SHO variant.

But hey, now that the political winds are on the verge of changing, perhaps Ford's overly warm embrace of the EV market will cool/temper and considerations will be lent to bringing the platform back to the U.S.

But then again, sales or interest would have to be at a level that would compel FMC to do so.

So many variables. Sigh.
