Agree with Chad re: formed seals on the ends. I haven't done this in a dozen years so i forget but any quality sealer that keeps oil from leaking should be fine.

I have never removed the oil pan before. Is there a procedure for getting it out?
How much effort?
thanks guys. all is done. went well.
thank you nick for the heads up and picture of the lower block flaw. that was the oil leak at the corners of the oil pan not the rear seal just as you said. the dab of gasket maker should hold that for awhile.
I was in there anyway with a new clutch so the main seal was replaced anyway being it has been close to 75K miles on it.
thanks again to all.
