I just had a buddy buy a 96 SHO with 100k on the clock. No mods that I can see. I have a 93 MTX with a Sho-shop Y-pipe. 90k on the clock and a fresh 60k done. Now he still insists that his V-8 is going to win cause he has 235 HP to my 225 (adding in Y-pipe). Now in your guys opinions, who do you think would win in a race. This guy has been competing with me since back in the day, and I have always had the faster car, and to be honest, this is they only time I am acctaully worried about him beating me.
So what do you guys think, should I tell him that he is gonna win and forget it, or do I stand a chance at beating him ?

There are so many variables to consider that I think it would be impossible to say 100% either way who would win.
Let's say you mess up the launch. Obvious advantage to the Gen 3.
Let's say the Gen 3 hasn't been driven aggressively for a while. Obvious advantage to you. (The Gen 3 computer puts more power down/shifts at higher RPMs the more aggressivly you drive the car.)

I would say do 3 staged races somewhere safe. One race 0-60 (MTX should win)
One race 0-100 (Should be closer)
One race 50-100 (??)

I'd give the edge to the MTX...

But...give the Gen 3 a try from 0-144. Gen 3 should take it.

And if it doesn't....tell him to take out the 3rd cat and resonator. After that...shouldn't be too close.

My 1991 SHO will take my 1998 SHO no problem. From a start and from a roll. I had by brother in law drive my 1991 while I was in 1998 and he ate me both ways. Traded cars I ate him in my 1991 both ways too. My 1991 pulls harder on the freeway.
