Hello all,
Just purchased my first 1990 Taurus SHO. Great condition, but with a few minor issues here and there that you'd expect from an older car. Besides the engine in dire need of the famous 60k maintenance, some of the electrical does not function as expected.

Gauge lighting does not seem to work, unless I turn the dimmer switch to the maximum. Also, the environmental controls all seem to work, except that the blower motor does not turn on. I can hear a solenoid clicking when I move the fan speed **** up and down, however no motor rotation.

I have also checked all the fuses by the pedals and found none that are burnt. Is there another fuse/relay box in the engine compartment, or is it hidden in the dash?
Cheers,
Rob

Well I fixed the dimmer switch problem. The resistance spring in the potentiometer was broken, so I soldered it. Now I have proper resistance changes when I move the **** up and down :) However, I still don't know why the blower motor isn't working. Any ideas?

the blower motor has a control board that can go bad. I would start by checking that.

Control board? Where is this located? You'll have to excuse my ignorance to this matter; I have not yet received the SHO shop manuals, nor am I able to find any diagrams... so I'm going at this blindly for now

Thanks for the reply. I fixed the problem last night: Tore the whole blower motor assembly apart and it looks like the motor itself is the culprit.
