This is a pretty straight forward guide to taking apart your gauge cluster to put in new gauges so it'll go from this:
to this:
First off take off the metal steering colume panel by unscrewing the 4 torx screws.
Once that panel is off you can see the two 5mm (I believe) bolt on either side of the steering colume.
Finally you just have to take off the two remaining bolts on the underside of the gauge cluster location.
Once all the bolts are off slowly pull the dash panel out a little bit. This panel is held in place by several clips and and have multiple sockets connected to it, you must disconnect all of them before the panel can be removed.
Take these 6 bolts off to remove the plastic lens.
Then remove the remailing bolts to take off the black trim piece.
Now you're ready to put on the new gauge face. Before you do anything mark down the location of the fuel gauge and water tempreture needle, they will not move back to the same location once you move them so it's a good idea to make a note of it so you can adjust the needles back to their correct position after.
I recommand using super glue to keep the gauge face on the old gauges, you can otherwise use doublesided tape but some have found that this might be too thick and the new gauge faces interfere with the movement of the gauge needles. You do not need to take the old faces out, just apply the new faces onto the old one. There's no need to take off any needles, just slide the gauge faces over the needles.
It would also be a good idea to use a Sharpie to colour in the white needles so they will stand out against the white faces in day light for improve visibility.
Now the wiring, I wire them to my foglight switch so they will light up with my lights and dim with the dimmer (although the dimmer that comes with the gauges are much more effective). I forgot which wire I soldered them to but I did find this from other posts on the forum.
To change the colour of the needles, I got four red 194 bulbs and replaced them with the factory bulbs in the back of the cluster. Some people say you have to remove the cluster to do this, but I squeezed my hand back there enough to avoid having to disconnect the speedo cable, so it can be done.
Once this is all finished put everything back in the reverse order, power them up and enjoy your spiffy new gauges!
