I've got a pretty strong fuel smell coming from my car when it's warm. Seems to get worse durring idle. I also have a lot of built up pressure in the tank (apparent when I fill up), which I have never experienced in my 92. There are no fuel leaks under the car. Anybody got an idea?

There was a thing on Shotimes about that. Where you replace the fuel purge valve and the canister (I did the valve and it 90% went away but I'm gonna do the canister soon too). Sometimes the cannister is so badly saturated that it will cause a lingering smell but that can be taken care of also.

The purge valve is easy enough to check. First to determine if it's even possibly the culprit, remove the hose to the charcoal canister and see if the canister smells like fuel. If not, it's probably not clogged and therefore not the problem.

I also have a fuel smell around the car, and I attribute it to the gas tank vent on the top of the tank. It must be leaking - it's the only part of the system I haven't checked.

In the tubing near the purge canister is a small fitting that has an orafice inside it. Been a while, but its a small nylon splice, the inside hole is less than 1/16". Its purpose is to prevent too much engine vacuum from collapsing the fuel tank. If that small hole is plugged the fumes are prevented from reaching the canister and must vent from the tank cap. Gets much worse in hot weather, causes lots of pressure to build up in the tank. so just pull that connector and clean it out with a tiny drill, or piece of wire.
