I was informed of a fuel injector cleaner last night that is directly injected into the schader<sp> valve. Apperently you disconnect the fuel pump, let the engine run out of gas, then install this can of cleaner on the schrader valve. Restart the engine, and it runs off the cleaner and cleans the injectors. The product was seen on that "Crank and Chrome" show, but I have not been able to find any info.

IAS92SHO,

3 M products makes a kit for this purpose, and I think this was the product used on the "Crank and Chrome". (Formerly the "Shadetree Mechanic" but gone commercial)

IT should be available at your local auto parts store. Be careful in buying just what you need. The whole kit, with every size addapter to fit every make, model, and year car, is not necesary. You need the cleaner and just the connections to fit your car.

I think it works fairly well, but do not expect it to work magic. rangerj

I have the 3M kit. It is expensive and the cans don't always work. I would just run my gas tank down and add a 2 or 3 of cans of B12.

With only 61K, how dirty can your injectors be? A can of Berryman B-12 in the gas tank every few thousand miles is probably all you need.

Is it really safe to add 2 or 3 cans of the Berryman B12? I put in one yesterday and filled up, but have no idea if the previous owner ever used any, or the last time he did. Maybe I should also dump one in the next tank? Any bad side effects of using it too often?

Um, Berrymans comes in cans of straight liquid too. They also sell it in 1 gal. buckets for soaking carbs & parts.

Now that sounds better. what are the chances of it harming anything?
Short of an open flame or spilling it on a painted part of the car, none. It's like any other gas tank additive.
