The fuel gauge on my car drives me absolutely nuts.
I'm trying to get a consensus to determine if this is normal. Normally the gauge seems to drop about an 1/8 mark or more every time I park the car.
IE, I drive the car home and park it for the night with 3/4 showing on the gauge. Next morning I start up the car and the needle is at 5/8 or sometimes even at the 1/2 mark. Then over the course of a few miles it will slowly raise, but below the original mark.
When on the highway the needle will go up about an 1/8 or more higher mark then it should be. I know this because as soon as I get on or off the highway the gauge will raise or drop almost immediately. Is it possible that excessive engine vaccum through the purge line is causing the tank to collapse slighty? Just seems strange to me that crusing at highway speeds causes my fuel gauge to start reading high.
Seems a little too undampened for me.
Is this all normal?
Thanks All,
