Looks possible. Anyone ever tryd it? I personally like the gen I better and would never do this, but just looking at the body lines and where the fenders meet the windshield has me thinking about if its possible.

The doors are the same so I'm sure the fenders would line up rather easy.

The uni-body at the front of vehicle is basicly the same from gen1 to gen2. You can swap a whole front clip from gen1 to 2 Or vice-versa. You will just end up with a mis-match at the lower frt door panel pieces. Only the rear tail panel & rear quarter sheet metal was revised.

hey that looks good, look as if theres no effects between wheel wells fr to bk.but thats kinda sexy if ya ask me, i have a grnd effx kit frm my 93 accord that fits very well between the fr and rear.i just cant get the frnt to wrap around to a good fit.its urthane and it mounted ove my bumpr on the rice bx.and it looked good and i want it on my sho anyone know how to stretch urthane?it reminds me of good swaps likeand dont get mad some of ya, but a 92-95 civic hatch with a integra nose, it always turns those heads and i know this swap youre thinkin of would be a killer tooo!!!

There was a SHO on ebay a while back being advertized as a '91 or '90, but the rear 2/3rd's of the car was obviously Gen II, but the front clip was a Gen I. I seem to remember the body lines (like the creases that run across the side of the car) did not line up.

Maybe this was the aftermath of someone making the better looking Gen II front, Gen I rear swap, and they didn't know what to do with the rest of the parts!

You could probably smooth out the creases with bondo, or other method (I haven't done bodywork) to make it line up. I also like the look of the front "grille" on the Gen II SHO, but I really like the ground effects at the fenders much better on the Gen I, with the swoopy flares that tuck back under the car. Maybe you could just use the Gen I SHO side cladding over the Gen II fender.

Gen 1s and Gen2s have different style rear ends. Swapping a gen 2 rear on a gen 1 car will not work as the bumpers are different lengths. A gen 2 bumper will have to sit way in the rear wheel well in order to line up to the best of its abilities and vise versa, a gen 1 bumper on a gen 2 will not even be close to mating up with the rear wheel wells correctly.
From what I remember about the 89 with the gen 2 front end we installed the froun ground effects were not reinstalled. I think gen 2 ground effects were going to go on it because the purpose of the swap was to replace a messed up fender and ground effect that got beat up when a front tire fell off the car at 35 mph. The body lines did indeed line up from gen 2 fender to gen 1 body and the car looked pretty slick.

yeah I saw a gen II slow around here with a gen I front end. they must have crashed it up once and just threw whatever they had on it, but the body lines matched up and stuff.
