Recently finished up with a 3.2 swap on an '89. It has bad hesitation when given 1/4 to full throttle, won't go over 3-4k(tach doesn't work) and idles no more than 10-15 seconds unless you help it(feather the throttle). It's throwing no codes and I tried to do the cylinder balance test but it won't idle long enough.

Has brand new plugs and wires, all seals and gaskets are fresh.

The 3.2 has 3.0 heads, 3.2 injectors and the stock '89 computer.

At first I thought the cats were the culprit but I changed the y-pipe for one that I know is good and that didn't do anything.

Thanks for the help.

Check to make sure all plugwires are in the correct order.

Check any grounds for the coilpack, DIS, etc etc.

Check to see if your MAF needs to be cleaned, Or try replacing it with a known good one.

Run the Codes!

check your grounds...specifically the two bolts holding down the crossover tube and the strap going to the firewall from the engine.

Plug wires are in correct order.

I will make sure all grounds are secure.

I'll check the MAF.

I ran the codes and the only 2 it gave me is 52 and 67.

check your grounds...specifically the two bolts holding down the crossover tube and the strap going to the firewall from the engine.

I'll make sure these are good.

So I'm guessing the '89 computer shouldn't have any problem running the 3.2 with 3.2 injectors?

Problems i ran into during my engine swap:

1.) i was positive the plug wires were in the correct order. I was wrong.
2.) when tightening down the intake, i pinched a vacuum line inbetween a runner a head, you couldnt see it, but ran like shit and wouldnt idle.
3.) ended up running a ground straight from the DIS to the battery, it was the crossover tube bolts.

Thanks for all the suggestions all.

Sam suggested that I checked how clean the MAF was. I open the airbox lid and low and behold there is a bunch of crap blocking the mesh on the MAF housing. So I cleaned it up and now it runs so smoooth.:thumb:

For some reason it is always something simple and easy to miss for me.

Problem solved.

Thanks for the help!
