Hello all,
I have a 1990 3.0 with a disintegrated clutch and I'm trying to get the SHO on the road! I have a new clutchmasters stage 1 kit, but I need to replace the flywheel.

The shop that is working on my SHO received a new steel OEM flywheel that they say fits with with my pressure plate, but is different from the stock flywheel that is shot. Their mechanic records show a difference in the flywheels between 89-91 and 92-95.

So the question is; will the flywheel spec from the 2nd Gen work with the 1st Gen setup with no problems?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, the flywheel should have been replaced years ago in a recall. You must not shift very much!

The revised 9.75" flywheel and pressure plate setup will retrofit to the earlier SHO's.

Perfect. Very knowledgeable and fast response. Thank you.

It has low miles, but I got it from the ghetto in Newark, so they had done shotty maintenance work on it. In fact my mechanic says they installed part of the clutch backwards when it was replaced years ago, and there was shrapnel all over the casing of the tranny!

Part of the clutch backwards??? How the **** do you do that??

The original 9.25" probably died before the shrapnel hit!!

Although most of them, like my original '89, just slipped so bad it was a 5-mph-at-5K slow drive through the neighborhood to get to the local Ford dealer!

But, as Hamal said, they are all interchangeable once they were originally replaced with the 9.75".
