I've always been a GM FWD guy, mostly supercharged 3.8 stuff, but I always liked SHOs. Well, I bought one for a driver last Wednesday. It needs a new clutch but it seems to run well otherwise, though I haven't really driven it yet. It has 192k on it and it's a little rusty around the rear wheel wells but it was only $1k so I'm not complaing.

Welcome to the SHO family. Sweet looking Gen1. At 192k miles, she's just started to get broken in right. If you don't have any maintainance records, I would suggest having a 60k service done as soon as possible. If you have any questions, the search function can be your best friend. Another good source(though somewhat dated) for information is www.shotimes.com :salute:

welcome to the forums. You will love your car. These things are a blast to drive. They have soul unlike most newer cars. It is strongly encouraged that you replace your rod bearings or at the very least send out a oil sample for analysis to check their condition. 100K or so is their lifespan give or take if the car is not well cared for. If you have a good history you can decide for yourself but it only takes a few hours to change them and will give you a chance to replace your oil pan gasket that is probably leaking anyway.

Sweet Gen 1! White SHO's are the sexiest :p Also a heads-up, NO burnouts. Differential pin likes to venture into the tranny.

Well, he said it needs a new clutch he's going to be replacing fluid wich will help safe the tranny.

Make sure the 60ks and rod bearings have been performed and you should have no problem with the car.

If your not comfortable performing the services yourself I'm sure there are forum members willing to lend a hand, Brian in the area or you could contact ne sho and we'll take care of you seeing as your in PA.

I actually have all the service records on the car and it had an upper and front 60k done at 126k miles. Guess it's probably time for another one though.
