Just got the SHO off the stands and back on the road after 2 months. In that time I replaced the recall clutch installed in '93 with 120K miles on it. It really wasn't slipping but I was tired of pressing down on what felt like a brick instead of the clutch pedal. That and the dreaded 2nd gear grind during winter present in the first 10 min. of driving. After spending alot of time and effort heating, drilling and cutting seized Y-pipe and subframe bolts the tranny was removed to reveal an evenly worn friction disc and PP with thin but intact fingers. The TOB was noisy and did not spin smoothly.
I did what other members did and ordered the SHOnut MTX video to refreshen the tranny with seals and blocking rings. Threw on some Gen III SFB's, installed a resurfaced flywheel out of Josh T's S/C SHO (he ran out of those but had his out while he replaced his blown 3rd gear.) replaced the a/c clutch and reassembled with plenty of anti-seize compound for next time. squint The drive right after was amazing, the clutch feels lighter than a Honda's with an improvement in shift feel, even with the cable shifter. The knowledge and help from this forum will keep my SHO around for years to come. thumb
