Finally heard my own exhaust!

Took my car to the Ford dealership for an oil change today. They gave me a ride back to work and as I was walking past the service bay I heard a car start up. Wow, the exhaust sounded awesome! I turned around and it was mine!

I guess I never had heard my car start, I've only heard it after it was started and was idling.
I highly recommend to everyone with a Gen 3 to look into Rhino mufflers if you don't already have aftermarket muffs. Cost me $125 total, including installation. Definitely well worth it for the difference in sound. Really makes the V8 sound like it's alive!!!

I will do this if my OEM ones will just wear out!!!! First time I have ever wanted a set of mufflers to succumb to a normal Canadian winter like they always do, and these just refuse to die. Ford was obviously on a no rust kick when they put these on. :0

These mufflers have really added to the pleasure of owning the V8 SHO.I am glad I did not go with the Flowmasters however, I think they are too much for my tastes. I also like these round stainless tips that I selected with the mufflers. Two guys have approached me to ask about what I was running in two differant parking lots...both wanted to see the engine etc...the rumble at idle made them curious. I had no idea so many people love the low rumble of these cars at idle.

Its not the money, Mark. Actually, I did not even consider the money. I think it is my depression era parents haunting me or something. You know, the "use it till it drops" syndrome. In this instance, "replace no muffler until the duct tape will no longer work as a patch" feeling. Actually, I will settle for a single small hole and skip the entire duct tape stage, if it will just develop the darn hole!

But I am at this point pretty convinced to go with the Rhinos, since it seems they are the slightly quieter choice. Am I correct on this, in everyone's opnion?

I have only heard the Rhinos on Mark's soundbite. I think they are similar in sound and desigh to the Magnaflows that I have.(Less than Flowmaster but more than OEM). But I think he has mods that enhance the sound somewhat.

I dont know how they all compare on loudness. I think the Flowmasters may be
pretty loud. I have seen quite a few GenIIIs around town but I have only seen a couple with other than stock tips and I know they sounded good the few brief times I have heard them. And usually by the time the light changes they are gone.
