Brakes bled, good peddle but rear caliper issues. Piston will not turn in on left rear caliper and the right rear never stop the tire from turning while on jack stands. Thats whats expected from a year sitting, rusty brakes. Fluid even came out rusty from the left rear caliper. Either way cleaned all rotors with emry cloth since they were fairly new from previous owner. Drove it out the garage and was like lets take it around the block. Mind you hood still off from cam weld. Good thing I didnt, the next morning I back it out the garage and sqish, I'm like no and I hit the brake pedal and behold another leak. Stay tuned :frown:

Luigi was right ! 10/29 post. After I repaired the brk line rear floor in front of gas tank runs from left rear wheel to the right caliper, the line under the drivers door blew. Advanced auto friday night 2 3/16 line 4 unions I think they were called grabbers. Cut out 2 sections that had been repaired probably quite some time ago. Anyway got brakes (bairly still need rear caliper it had rust coming out of the bleeder) Windshields out !!! hoping to get it 11/14 along with right headlamp at the u pull it yard. Just not looking forward to pulling it, knowing me I''l crack it along the way trying to get it out. Cutting with wire and 24'' urethane windshield remover.
Met a guy who sold a 01 SLO that was modded with 17'' ronals big rear sway bar, chin on front bumper from a cobra, etc... The ronals were the ones that sit flush to the fenders and quarters. Not the cobra that sit recessed.
I barely have mine up and running let alone buy 17''tires. No money to by them. Told him how much I paid for my SHO he's like I hate you apparently he'd been looking for one ,then got a Colbalt. Knows alot about SHO'S though and gave me his #.

Common corrosion spot on these cars. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with all the unions on the brake lines. I had bulk line bent and flared vs stock lines put on. Good luck with the maintenance. For all it's been sitting, not bad so far.

There were unions on it, looks like someone ran a good portion of replaced lines under the rocker. Your right about unions though. I'm reading the package for the union and it's like do not use for brake lines. Yet Advance Auto had them with the brake lines. I'm just dying to get it up and running . I seem to be able to sort out kinks easier driving it verses sitting.
Well ran late to get to the upull it yard and cut a glass out reminding myself dont rush so as not to crack the glass. Load my tools carry the glass over to the shed to pay for it get to the mini van pick it up set it in and crack. I'm like you got to be kidding me. Aparently when I set it down and not hard mind you but on asphalt it chipped the outer glass in the center thus layng it down cracked it. I took it back in to the u-pull it yard since I had a busted windshield at home out and sitting from the SHO. Then lost my 24'' windshield cutting tool. Must of fell out walking through the junkyard, I even thought I heard someone yell tool when I left out the gate windshield in hand. I had triple check, snap on sockets 1/4'',1/4'' ratchet, screwdriver, vise grips, needle nose pliers all in my pockets before carrying the glass to the pay shed. So I was sure I had all my stuff.
Oh joy. Ordered new cutting tool again, my Dad's like bet you wont loose that one. Used glass 37.10 admission to yard 2.00, tool 18.86 so double that and I'm about 50 to a 90 off just havin a glass guy come out. I need to stick to collision work, and occasional wrenching.:laugh_ti:

Up and running!!! Late friday night 11/19 I put the front windshield in. 12hr cure time. The next day was busy and by 2pm the wife decides to visit family with 3 boys for are only son to play with. All the while I'm like I need to get home to throw the cowl pieces on, hood, headlight and test out the car. Anyway with air still in the brake line ( pumped the pedal a few times like the mechanic told my niece when her mstr cylinder was bad) stay away from mechanics who think there saving you money. I run the SHO over to my Dad's mind you he has a 67 Chevelle 327 4spd with fuelie heads. We take it out and the passing gear is nice. I drop him off jump back on the highway home and I'm with traffic and ready to pass traffic while still in the merge lane. Out of all the adds 4 SHO's for sale I never saw to many adds saying how ther car was fast or whatever. This one has a tight motor. The trans is crisp, more so then my 93 SHO that had the triple clutch pac. Almost got it inspected today but still had to complete drive cycle. Told the mechanic I drove the wheels off the thing showing it off and was sure I completed it. His scanner showed a few not complete and needed for emissions.:omgsho:

How do you get pics up? Url from a photoweb site that stores your pics? Anyway I had to update for 3MD SHO's. Now he's 2 MD SHO"S and a cool Suzuki bike with a 9' wide rear tire. I think everyone stopped following the thread because when you find a SHO running at 540. with issues but driveable it's unheard of. Of course to date a 96 SHO clean on Craigslist in the Lehigh valley popped up, once again doesnt run needs altenator. Heard that add before hard to believe, you think what else are they hiding. Anyway the SHO is a blast to drive and just jumping on the throttle part way at a 5mph role really sends it. The exhaust note is like music (depending on what you like) The v8 sound I grew up with . My dad when I was 6 or 7 had a tow truck with thrush mufflers. I learned manual trans just by listening to him shift without being physiclly taught other than watching him. With that said I have a neighbor (former racer) know's machine work but age forces him to work on small engines (lawn mowers, snowblowers). I used his acetalyne the other day on a 04 Scion exhaust. I told him I need to heat and unbolt the 3rd cat. Shouldnt get to loud, I really wanted to put in a cherrybomb muffler, we'll start with the straight pipe 1st.
The trans converter seal leaks and the radiator, but this thing is so fun to drive that I would die if I had to park it to pull the trans out ! Had my 93 SHO tran out twice 1st time a 2.00 servo clip the cover backed out into the steering rack, still didn't have to dropthe trans but the sevo clipped lost 4th gear and a miss diag (thanks Jason), 2nd time the planetary gear shreared off jumping on it in 1st leaving the post office at tax time. I went at 10pm for the wife(accountant) to get her customers returns postmarked. I jumped on it leaving the post office and bang nothing. Sat a day or to till I had it towed to work. Then it sat till I got my 93 Saab 9000 cse turbo, balanced crank ,adjustable boost kit, a/c delete etc.... (fast) up and running then took it home ripped it apart. Walked up to Lee Myles and bounce ideas off them. The shearded planetary gear was a the way at the bottom, bottom as in the side the right axle shaft goes in, everything had to come out. My 89 out once for the clutch. I live in walking distance from LeeMyles were there's a Father son team that moved in from Long Island that now own it. Very helpful .The dad already told me what to look for when I drop the V8 SHO trans for the torque converter seal. Of course he asked why do you like those cars? My inspection guy (family friend) said he'd junk it ouch. Of coure he called his worker over when I popped the hood. ( Not your grandmas Taurus) Then he wanted to know if it would run my Dads 67 Chevelle 327?
Still no inspection stickers. I put 170 miles and it still has not completed its systems check. I need I think 5 out of 8 to pass inspection 7and 8 are evap, and catlyst. So I just fueled it up with premium and want to check the gas mileage but thats impossible especially when I'm alone. The costant urge to jump on it when you hear that exhaust. Just 2 weeks ago I ran it up the PA turnpike to get a car part for a customer. Coming back knowing the trans seal leaks especially when you jump on it wanted to sho a guy in a chrysler 300 not the v6 it had duals out the back. He pulled out in front of me while I was in the fast lane. So when I went to pass him I wanted to floor it but not then. Soon though. Already pricing trans overhaul kits. If I need a torque converter, that will slow things a bit.
When you had your motor apart to weld cams, no sludge, re gapped plug, yes the kinderhook owner put in autolites not platinum. Your feel obligated to drive the wheels off this thing. Hey and if the trans lets loose I'll just pull that out, take it apart and cry if its a hard part broken. They get quite expensive, (hard parts) sometimes cheaper to get a used unit and pull the hard parts. Thats what the vendors do then sell them to trans repair shops. (used trans as low as 299. on car-parts.com) and go from there.

Yeah I know,to much ramble. The previous owner is following the progress on the forum. I email him ocasionally, but knew I had to update so he could follow the progress.
That supercharged SHO is black right . I followed it when it was up for sale . A one off by Doug Lewis nice !!! I'm a field inventory rep and keep track off about 800 to a 1000 cars every other week for total loss evaluations. There was a Lightning (white) that showed up. I wrote it and it sold quick.

Not sure how E's is put together. SHO U UP is the owner and has posted in this thread. He also has a GenIV SHO and a modified Lightning. A very interesting stable.
Doug made a custom intake and the sc is back toward the firewall under the SCT badge. You can see the black eaton cast fins under there and the strut tower was modified a little to get some extra room for a belt and pulley on that side. Very custom build.

This thread has some pics and a video

Hey luigi, Sho is running, but I have the dreaded torque converter seal leak! Still to a blast to drive, but I'm going to have to park it and drop the trans. I thought of refreshing the friction plates and clutches, but my tranny guy told me the leak could be stator in torque converter, pump shaft wear, bearing or bushing that holds the pump shaft etc......Either way I left the shop with a slight headache because I was hoping easy fix (seal 4.95) So as usual just when I thought I could just drop the trans and change the seal $$$$$$$ I think I'm remebering the love hate relationship I had with my Gen I (fun though)
Stay tuned :oogle:
I better hit enter wife's coming.

Hey biker889 No pics. I wrote the guys number down for giggles, mines up and running so I never called to find out is it worth $800. He claims he only needs alternater. I've heard of starters getting fried from trying to crank over a SHO with a bad alternater(or seized) alt.
Its still on Craiglist PA lehigh valley with a number.

Trans has to come out! I talked to guys at Lee Myles, got to know them well when there payroll checks were delivered to my house by mistake. Problem is what's causing the front converter seal to leak, they want me to get it apart to inspect a few things. Meanwhile my wife was using the SHO while her van was at my shop for bodywork. She caved in the front fender back in August so it was over due for repairs. She complained that our 93 SHO burned to much gas. I later learned after I sold it nobody could pass her on her Jersey commute (there goes the fuel mileage). Plus I really dont want her driving the SHO I just got it.
Problem I threw out a custom trans support I made to hold an AX4N. So I got to figuere what to do. I got to get on a web photo to post pics.
Trans out hopefully around 1st week of Jan.
