Cant really tell you how it happened, all i remember is driving down a road and all of the sudden feeling like i had a flat tire. I pulled over immediately. Saw my front right tire completely flat, with a rip all the way around the outside wall. Tried to cruise to a near Circle K so i could SEE and get away from the curb and off the main road. Wasn't going to make it, heard a terrible noise (assumed it was from the tire and wheel). Changed the tire in the dark. Started my car up and went to drive off. TERRIBLE grinding noise as i hit the gas. Drive or Reverse.

Just feels like something in there is disconnected enough, tranny or axle, to cause it to slip. Because the car will still technically drive, but I'm not driving it anywhere until i figure out wtf is wrong. Cant get under it at the moment waiting on a floor jack. Any ideas?

Oh, it's the ATX just in case.

Also I didnt hit anything, or from what I could tell run anything over.

Something like that will be seen in your visual inspection, but if I had to guess, I'd say Crank Cancer.

On a serious note, I'm curious what you DO find. I think that whatever it is, it CAUSED the flat.

My regular taurus broke a coil on the spring once and was rubbing on the tire, I caught it before it blew, just a thought and something easy to check when you get a jack

he said "with a rip all the way around the outside wall" if that means the side facing out then it must be something else. i think we need clarification to where on the tire he means. i would think he wouldn't be able to see the inner wall with the tire still on there.

a broken spring does not NEED to be on the inside...It could stick out, curl around and cut ANY part of the tire.

I think there is a pretty good chance that smokinjoe is right.

UPDATE: Just got home, examined the tire more in the daylight. Found out that the "rip" on the outside wall is just a flesh wound, and not why my tire is flat.

The back of the tire actually got dislodged from the wheel itself, which is why i had a flat. So whatever is wrong with my car caused my tire to pop off of the wheel, giving me a flat. Still have no clue what's wrong. Will update once the jack gets here and I can get under it.

Ok, so the solution to my problem is so simple that I'm fairly embarrassed to even tell you guys. But I suppose I cant blame myself. Found a small hole on the tire, air leaked out, pressure got bad and it popped off the wheel. Tried to move a little on the flat, heard terrible noise, was just the rim rubbing the ground through the tire. Put the spare on, tried to drive off. TERRIBLE grinding noise/felt like something slipping. Finally got a floor jack under it (was on a tad of an incline and wasnt trusting the factory jack). Took off the spare, the spare tire is too small to fit over my calipers (never knew that, have used the spare before but only on the back) so the inside of the spare rim was rubbing the caliper pretty good. So spare is on the back now. Problem solved till i get a new tire :), Thanks for the input guys.

Now you know when you get a flat in front you have to change 2 tires. I have the same problem with the brake upgrade on my GTP.

Yeah, it has the upgrade. Don't know why I didnt think of it. Guess I just figured since I used the spare before that it'd work. Well huge scare avoided... I can sleep easy... tonight.

Because I dont have a spare from a gen 3 but I have a spare slicer with a good tire on it, and its never a good idea to run a spare on the front, it puts a lot of stress on the dif, if one side is a smaller diameter it needs to rotate more times to go the same distance as the other
