I was under the SHO today removing the 3rd cat and resonator (I Like the sound by the way) and came up with some thoughts for a better sounding (possibly better performing) exhaust. Here gose;

I was thinking of going to true dual's. By the looks of it, should be a relitively easy fit. My thought was to start at the manifolds with new aftermarket cats and use 2" or possibly 2 1/4" (still debating wich one will perform better) stainless tubing. After the cats, going in to a Dr Gas X pipe, and then following the stock route side by side back to my current Flowmaster's.

I think the sound would be amazing! Taking from others posts it dos'nt seem that exhaust is worth a whole lot in the performance department so I am not counting on much if anything.

I tried to find info on true dual's but I was only able to find one write up on V8SHO, but there was not much there.

Thoughts are welcome! (even if you think I am insane :slap: )

Much money to spend and very little performance to be gained. I would be thinking of 1.75" tubing for true dual exhaust.

Go for it and lets us know how it works out. But you should do some testing before hand. Gets a bunch of timeslips and record the outside air temperature and the pressure. Then do the exhaust and run in the same weather conditions. Then you will be able to tell if it helped or not.

A lot of people have said that true duals will make the car slower. If I had a quarter for every time someone said the V8 SHO falls flat on it's face with the exhaust disconnected at the flexpipe, I'd have enough money to buy... maybe a case of beer. My car isn't any slower with the cutout open. There's a lot of unproven myths out there about these cars.

That would be a really cool exhaust system !!!!!!!! True duals with a crossover! If you could pull it off, do it! However, it won't be worth the money (or time) in torque/horsepower ... but we all dump money and time into our cars with no real gains. The true satisfaction of such a mod is knowing that it can be done, and you did it, and you have the only one!

Fortunately it will be more time than money. I like to do as much work my self as I can. Exhaust is fairly easy to do. I will do some base line before and gain/loss after numbers with atmospheric conditions to see if it is worth it in the end. I think it will be. If anything it will sound mean as ****. A friend of mine has a Dr. Gas X pipe on his mustang and 5,000 rpm on the tach sounds like about 10,000 rpm out of the exhaust :eek: . I loved it :D

Just in case anyone is interested I snapped a pic of the removed cat and resonator. I really like the sound right now, has a good rumble and has that tinny sound that the mustangs have.
