Has anyone ever modded a Sable front bumper cover onto their gen2 SHO?

You would need the center light too, right?

I know...why would I want that?

Got pics?

You could cut the lightbar down a little on each side (for our fishtanks) and paint it body color.

It would bolt right up. The 2nd gen SHO uses Sable fenders and a Sable headlight support (and Sable headlight also).

Thats what I thought, jello...I think I'll be looking in the junkyard this saturday for a cover and a light to mod up.

Since I am having such a hard time finding a black gen2 SHO cover at a decent price, the sable cover may fit the bill nicely and make a unique looking front end. (you can get a brand spanking new sable cover for about $150).

In addition, the sable cover is more rigid, like fiberglass. So you can cut and grind on it more easily.

yeah, it should be easy as my neighbor has done it before. you're right it is very cheap if you need a bumper cover right this moment. we had to put it on to avoid tickets while he was waiting for his sho one to arrive. it bolts right up to everything but there are a couple of prep things to do first.

-first off all you should need is the actual bumper cover and the center light (with attaching hardware). all of the stuff like the supports and header panel are the same.
-you should disconnect your foglights. you don't have to disconnect the brackets but the foglights sort of rub against the sable bumper. another thing to try out is maybe you could use the sable foglights and brackets. i don't know cause our cover was from a fogless car.
-take out your headlights and remove the fishtanks from them. then the center lightbar should mount right up as long as you made sure you got all of the bolts that come with it. ours did but we never wired it up.

that's all that i can remember for now. you'll be surprised how well the body lines match up. we still took it off tho cause it looked weird, well maybe just cause it was a different color and had the mercury logo on the front (maybe you can fix that), lol. plus our sho bumper arrived. good luck to ya.
