Hey guys. When I bought my 94 it had been sitting for a while and there was some type of a gasket leak. I thought it was the rear valve cover gasket and the tranny pan gasket. I drove the car home for 2 hrs and by the time I got home all the oil on the motor had burnt off and the motor wasnt smoking any more because the oil had burnt off.

..the oil on the motor just had to be burnt off to stop smoking...I realize I still have a leak that I need to figure out where it is coming from though.

A few days later while revving the car in the driveway after returning from driving the car aggressively..I shut the car off and the motor started smoking again...oil on the motor.

Any ideas what this could be??? Im lost here.

Im about to degrease the entire motor today and hopefully pinpoint where it is coming from.

Any help on this would be great!

Your on the right track. Clean the engine by hand, then start it up and look for the oil leak. There are several places that these engines leak from.

Valve cover gaskets
cam seals
f/r crank seals
oil pan

One of those seals leaks more when there's high oil pressure; which makes perfect sence. It's probably a cam seal. When those drip, they have a tendancy to run down the engine and drop the oil on the y-pipe, where it immediately starts to smoke. Oil won't usually burn off of the engine block, it's not hot enough.

It probably oozes a little oil at idle and revving the engine makes it flow. You are probably leaking pretty good on the highway, but you don't see or smell it because you are traveling.

Have a real good look at the cam seals and the front main. I've found it easiest to check these seals from the bottom. I jack and support the car and use a pen light to look up at the rear cam seal. Depending how "hands-on" you are and if you are confidant in your aim, you can spray the old oil and dirt from the front of the rear head with some brake cleaner or engine cleaner. Use the same technique to clean as much oil and dirt off the botton of engine, transmission and oil pan as you can. I use a toilet brush to scrub the nasty areas and carefully rinse off the entire bottom of the engine with a pistol grip hose attachment. You WILL get wet. You WILL get greasy.
