Hi again! I have recently noticed that my 91 MTX SHO really HATES "in city," stop 'n go traffic. She runs just great out on the road, but if I am stuck in traffic or a lot of stop and go, the idle starts to feel rough and she will stall when I try to take off in 1st. She restarts right away, but just doesn't want to get going again.

Also, in similar conditions, she smells hot, but the temp gauge stays in mid-normal range. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Could be a vaccume leak I guess...

Sounds like a leaking waterpump on to the CPS(crank position sensor) to me.

Smells hot(burning coolent) harsh stalls, starts back up...I had the same problems with another 89 I had and that is what it was. The CPS gets an "attitude" sometimes before it desides to crap out.

Do you ever have hard starts?

No hard starts so far. Sometimes after I stall, it takes a couple of seconds, but cold starting is A-OK.

Water pump leak or vaccuum leak, huh? Okey dokey, I'll look into those. Thanks!
