engine cut out

When i rev the motor on the sho in park it will vut out around 4k rpm's. It will do the same in nuetral also. Is this just the rev limiter or is it something else??? I was figuring it is the rev limiter. It is an ATX if that helps ne!

A 4,000 rpm rev limiter is installed in ATX's to keep the transmission from overheating by reving the engine in park. In drive the limiter is set at 7,300 rpm.
