Never raced one on tune only. However tune and downpipes you will pull until about 100, then they start to make a comeback, so you better have a big gap. Lol. Lower speeds obviously work out in our favor. If they dont have a tire then it is game over for them.Always wondered how a tuned SHO would do against a stock 392 SRT. Don’t they put out something like 475hp ?
I know stock vs stock the SHO IS faster than the standard RT with the standard V8. Even the police tests with the v8 police Charger vs the Taurus police version with the SHO ecoboost the Taurus beats it in every test. Fastest 0-60, 1/4 mile etc etc
is it wise to brag about going 40-50 mph over legal speed limit - do your racing at a proper 1/4 mile track .
Huh, I didn't know that they built one with a V8, have only seen the recent tests of the SXT AWD (V6). Looked it up, not built for long, the 2014 RT AWD shows as 370HP @ 5250, and 4450 lb. So, pretty close, I'm betting the Gen IV SHO has more torque low down because turbo, so will probably pull it at the line. The Dodge is shown to have made sixty in just under 5 so really close to the regular SHO it seems. The awd dodge charger RT.
How do we stack up? A guy at work drives one, tried to start up a convo with him...but he's a dick, so, not much luck on that.
So, on my way out tonight, I asked him when his break is. He asked why, I said so I can smoke him in a race, lol. He was like, oh its on!
So we go to the on ramp, which has a light, we stop, wait for the red light, and agree to go on green. I slap her in sport and wait. My first proper race with the SHO! Mind you, I don't drag race. Only been to a strip a couple times, in Bradenton, FL. I auto cross. But I got a basic understanding. BUT. I'm not about to dump it at 2,500 rpm on my trans, so this was just a shot from idle. He revved his. Even still I got him off the line, he missed the light by a 1/4 second. I'm ahead by half a car. Stays that way for a second or 2, then a shift...and I pull a little more ahead. Now I got him by a full car. Another shift, and now I can just barely see his head lights over my rear spoiler. I let off at about 120mph, and by that time, I was a good 2 lengths ahead of him.
Verdict? My car is faster. Even if I hadn't treed him off the line, his auto is a bit slower shifting than mine. With equally fast trans? That car would have kept up, woulda been a real close race.
Fun as shit, though.
Yeah, holding the brake is what I meant. I'm...too scared of breaking anything just yet to try a boosted launch, lol.Huh, I didn't know that they built one with a V8, have only seen the recent tests of the SXT AWD (V6). Can't remember (I'm a Gen II guy m'self) does the Gen IV have /any/ sort of launch control, stock? Exactly what does Sport mode do on it?
I mean, you could at least power brake it to build a tad of boost, not suggesting a neutral drop or anything. Winning is not worth a transmission....
