Electric Supercharger?

Has anyone heard of these? I think I saw one online, but I'm can't remember. If you have seen these what do they cost, and how much power?

LOL. Here I gotta hair dryer for ya, use that. Just as good. Seriously though, they are a load of trash. The one I saw dynoed resulted in -1 hp.

It may work for some cars...but the SHO demands way too much airflow for it to be effective. The CFM it supplies would actually be a restriction in the SHO intake.

I am surprised that it lost only one horsepower. It is merely a flow restriction to the SHO.'s intake.

Pretty crappy "mod" huh. I kinda thought that it was, I guess a cold air kit is the ticket. Who makes the best?

I have had one of these on my 97 since last spring. One of my joys in life is to experiment in order to learn new stuff. I bought this soley for this purpose. I have run it at the track numerous times with the fuse in and out for comparison. The result has been about a 1 to 1 1/2 tenths gain in the 1/4 mile with the thing on verses off. The true test would be to compare it on and then removed completely but due to the way I have it installed this is a huge PIA so I never have. The comment that running, it presents a restriction I don't really buy. I think 1 psi has to provide a modest gain at WOT. For my own edification I will be doing some dyno testing in the next month or so and I will do the true comparison out of curiousity on the mighty V8. It is truely impressive how much air pressure this this develops. I ran it off a 12v battery while holding it the first time and it flew out of my hands and startled me. It is not a blow dryer! What it actually is is a electric ducted fan from a radio controlled jet. It will fly a 4 lb. jet model at well over 100 mph. It blows as hard as a good leaf blower which is not insignificant. I have to mention that I have a 3.5" CAI inlet feeding the Eram that is inside the fender which makes a world of difference compared to sucking hot air from under the hood. $300 for a possible 1 to 1.5 tenths is not that great a deal overall as a start. But when you start running out of places to find hp it starts to look a little more appealing.

I've heard good and bad about the Eram, but never tried one myself. I agree though, it looks like it would restrict the airflow.

FWIW, I'm currently working on a MAF adapter and CAI kit for the Gen 3.
