I put up a thread a while back in the Gen4 Performance section regarding some dowels pins I cranked out to place the BBK 70mm TB dead nuts center with the IM opening, allowing for a more accurate porting of the IM opening (which is 68mm) if so desired. It also takes ALL the play/slop out of the installation.

In addition, the hardware that comes with the BBK is too short to be meaningful and the stock hardware has a shoulder under the head of the hex bolt that doesn't fit properly in the machined recess.

I'm gauging interest on selling sets of these, along with the correct hardware for a relatively small cost. The dowel pins and proper length mounting hardware (which includes hi-collar lock washers specifically designed for allen head bolts) are all 316 stainless steel. It does require widening 2 holes diagonal from each other by using a 5/16" drill bit and going down to the point where the threads begin (on the IM, the threads don't actually begin until about 1/4"-3/8" deep).

I was thinking about charging $25 shipped for the set. I realize this isn't the most difficult set of hardware to acquire yourself and I wouldn't be making much money as that price includes USPS Priority shipping and associated PayPal fees, as well as parts/material I'm paying for. But it will take some of the workload of other than having to drill slightly. To make it worth my time, I'd like to get at least 10 folks interested.

Hmm ok...I've got 2.5 takers (I'll say 3) at this point. Not looking like I'll get anywhere near 10 ppl. I could put these kits together now but with that low number I think I'd have to raise the cost up a smidgen...like to $30 shipped.

Would that be doable for you guys? I can get the kits together, then hit you guys up for payment when I've got it all ready to ship out if you want to commit.

I may be interested as well.

Was trying to verify with my builder, but he's currently on vacation.

I'm ok with the higher price point proposed regardless.

Thanks for making these available.

Perhaps more peeps will chime in as time goes on.

Ok cool, issue is, the raw material I have to get as well as the quantity of the hardware means i have to get a bit more than what I'll be able to sell, with under 10 ppl. That was roundabout the number of ppl I needed for the price point to change.

I'll start putting some of these kits together now. I'll have some sitting on the shelf for a bit a maybe over time folks will buy my overstock. I could probably advertise these on the Explorer, Flex and EcoBoost forums as well to get some additional folks on board

I didn’t include any instructions with the kit, as it appears to be pretty self-explanatory, but figured I’d cover the bases just in case there are any questions. There isn’t much to it, it's not Rocket Surgery.

1. You’ll need a 5/16” drill bit, not a step bit (uni-bit).

2. Although it doesn’t really matter, it’s best to install the dowels into the manifold side after drilling, THEN installing the throttle body onto that by sliding the holes over the installed dowels. It’s a little easier to install as the fit is pretty tight.

3. Select any 2 holes diagonal from each other.

4. If you are doing this on the engine, ensure you are mitigating the aluminum chips from entering the intake manifold. Stuff a rag in there and maybe have a small vacuum to get any debris out before you seal it back up.

5. If you look at how those holes are drilled/threaded from the factory, you’ll see the threads don’t start right at the face, but begin about 6-9mm in. That’s the depth you’ll want to drill to, just to the point that you meet those threads.

6. Use lubricant such as WD40 or some cutting fluid by spraying a little into the hole prior to drilling.

7. Do your best to keep the drill bit perpendicular to the face of the ******/gasket surface. But its such a short distance it isn’t as difficult as it sounds.

8. Clean your work area!

9. Install dowels onto IM.

10. Slide TB over dowels onto IM.

11. Viola!
