The stock radiator seems marginal in hot weather with a/c going, also mine leaks where the plastic tank meets the core.
So, I am looking for a replacement that would cool better, maybe a dual core one. Not copper as two active metals cause major electrolytic corrosion problems.

I had a aluminum radiator in my 89. It worked very well i would buy one instead of stock. I don't like the plastic either because on every SHO i have owned it has leaked.

the cooling system in a SHO works excellent. the stock radiator should be replaced OEM. nothing lasts forever. especially thermostats.

I'm using a two core aluminum

I got it at Autozone for $170.

Compare old and new radiator with pictures below.

Dave;

The overflow bottle sometimes will not fit and I have heard were alternative bottles are needed. There is a nother model Taurus (the 3.8?) that uses an overflow bottle that fits over by the PS reservoir I think.

In my case, the stock bottle fit with slight modification of the upper and lower mounting points. The mounting bracket for the bottle had to be moved back by an inch or so requiring drilling 1 small hole. Then the bottle's lower mount which normally just slips into slot had to be jerry rigged. I used a couple of heavy duty nylon tie straps for it to slip into. Works fine.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
That's a stout looking radiator and the price is definately right. I wish I had gotten one of those instead of my $150 single core Go-Dan. Only $20 difference! But I was in a jam when I bought mine. They had the single core in stock and I didn't even think to go looking for a double core. I assumed at the time a double core would cost too much extra. Still, my single core works fine. It's just not as "cool" as a double core! :p
