Hey Brian, have you checked your mounts yet? Just curious if you had an issue with yours too.

Well, I thought after tightening the bolt that was loose that it would get rid of the movement, but it still moves. So I have no idea. I think we just need to put it on the rack again.CheckerSHO said:I figured that mount would be loose![]()
now that its tight i can drive it again this friday if i'm in town and see what it feels like. I spent a few hours on my SHO saturday and got it to pass emissions by pulling the SPOUT connnectorthen i waxed it and it thanked me by puffing out smoke when i fired it up after waxing it

Paul's car would only jump when doing it in 1st gear, reverse is ok. And you can hear and feel the engine sit down after torquing it up in 1st. major movement. I'll check my SHO tomorrow and see how much it moves...its got a reinforced front mount so it should be ok for comparison.Brian Smith said:I have found that the motor does indeed move about an inch upwards and forward and upwards and backwards when the engine is engaged in 1st and reverse respectively. I suppose this could account for the jerkiness when shifting. Interesting that the intake shows no signs of polishing.
First of all, I have checked my tranny mount and it appears fine with no separation of the rubber from the metal. Second, the tranny mount is easily seen if you look behind the driverside wheel. It is right there on the subframe in front of the axel. I'm told by several people that this mount rarely fails, though I thought that mine had due to the fact that both my front and rear mounts were trashed, but it seemed to have held up.Brian Smith said:This evening i was looking around under the hood after finishing a brake job on the gl, I couldnt get a good look at the tranny mount because of the view being obstructed by wires and the upper radiator hose (unless I was way off in my estimation of its location) I was thinking about it more and I realize I dont have the lurchiness in fifth at all when I let the gas on and off. Not sure if this is significant, but it might have something to do with the torque that the tranny is outputting at highway speeds versus lesser speeds 30-50 in lower gears...just a thought.
Not yet, I did move it to my side of the shop thoughEmerald93MTX said:have you had a chance to look at that tranny?
Cool. BTW I did notice that my tranny is leaving a very small puddle where the halfshafts are leaking. Oh well, good reason to swap trannies. Oh, do you still want that Analog cluster and the headliner? The damn headliner still hasn't come in yet, but I'm going to be ****** at UPS if it doesn't come in tomorrow. Anyways, maybe we could work out a little trade. Later.CheckerSHO said:Not yet, I did move it to my side of the shop thoughIf i get caught up early tomorrow i'll pull the back off and look in it tho.
