Don't we have six speakers?

I saw a question on a post but no answer to it. If the SHO has six speakers, but the harness only has space for 4, what gives? I got a new HU, and if I'm missing a speaker or two it'd be nice to try and hook em up. Also, to all those who have 6x9's (I've asked this before, but am still curious) did you do "undermounting" or drill new holes and make the spaces in the deck larger?

Actually, there are 4 speakers and 2 "subs". There is a speaker in each front door(6 1/2") and a speaker on each side in the rear deck(4X8 or 5X7 I think). Mounted below these speakers are subwoofers(6X8's I believe). The reason that there is only wiring or 4 speakers is that the subs have their own amp. The power and whatnot is run directly from the main amp. Take a look in your trunk. You will see a black box and a silver box. The black box is the main amp and the silver one is the sub amp. I am 98.2% positive that is correct, as always correct me if I am wrong

if you have Premium Sound then yes, you should have 6 speakers. The JBL system does not have dash mounted, but normally has sub(s).

With the Premium Sound package the front speakers (L and R) are wired in parallel (door and dash). While the rear deck speakers are wired independently.

Premium sound from 1992 through 1995 = FIVE SPEAKERS

Premium sound from 1989 through 1991 = SIX SPEAKERS

Why is this so hard? Twin Cities sho off, what year is your car? Answer this question and all will be cleared up.

If 89-91 then you have 6 interior speakers with NO sub. Your front 2 left speakers are on their own channel (Left front) just and your front 2 are on the other channel (right front). They are wired in parallel like notsoslowsho said. This is why you only see 4 speaker lines on your harness.

If you have a 92-95 then it's a different story. I'm not that familiar with my 92's wiring yet as I have yet to gut it and install anything yet. My old 89 however I can tell you whatever you need to know.

This is incorrect (at least on the 90-91). There are no dash speakers at all. There are 1 in each front door and 4 in the rear deck, 2 of which are subs and are hooked to the sub amp (the silver one to the right of the JBL amp in the trunk). If you pop up the speaker covers in the dash you will find that the holes are not even cut for the speakers.

Ain't that what I said?
