I am trying to arrange a "group buy" for getting a second key made / programmed by the dealer during this years convention.
As you are probably aware if you only have 1 key and your car is one of the newer generations of PATS (All gen III SHO's are PATS equipped). The dealer must reprogram the valid key's into the computer. A service that most dealers charge 60 - 80 dollars for not including 15 or 20 for the new key and cutting.
I have spoken with Middleton Ford (dealership that is just doen the road from the convention host hotel). They wouldn't commit to a price but if we could get 5 or ten cars together they talked like somehwere around $50 for the programming would be attainable yet didn't give me any firm numbers. So the burden is on me / us to try and get a number of convention attendees that need this programming done. HEy if it saves 5 people 15 or 20 bucks, I think that is worth the effort; the discount isn't as large as I was hoping they woulg go but I can always push a little harder when I have a list of interested cars.
Someone please fill me in here. Does any year of Gen III have this potential issue or is it only the last couple of years. I know 99's and 98's have this issue, but I am not sure about 6's and 7's. Was there a change in PATS between when the Gen III was introduced, and terminated? I am pretty sure this procedure doesn't apply to any years of Gen II production, so I don't see nay need to litter their forum with a similar notice.
Please PM or email me if you would would like to get this done while you are at the convention. I allready sent a similar message to the v8 list so you may have seen it there as well.
Thanks in advnce for any of your time.
