I borrowed a decibel meter today and tested both of my cars.
the 93 has the JBL with cassette and CD.
the 92 has the premium sound with AM/FM CD player from a contour. I was surprised to find that at mid volume setting they both put out about the same Db level. When maxing out the sound, the JBL acheived 112 as it's highest, the premium system hit 110 before it started to distort about two 2 bars before full volume.
When comparing the two today, I was really surprised with the much better sound quality of the JBL system.

yeah, i actually found that the JBL system is one of the best in car sound systems i have ever heard.... it doesn't thump around the block, but it sounds amazing in the car.

I had a honda accord that used to hit around 148 db. (yes I am a reformed ricer). But that was with about 8 grand in rockford fosgate, jl audio, audio control and stinger products from the local shop here in Odessa. I think as far as factory systems go, outside the bose systems the sho system sounds the nicest.

Some guy hit 145 with one RockFord Fosgate 8" sub (lowest model) and the right sized box. Oh he was also a master tech or whatever they call them with car stereo equipment.
