yo

starts as flawless as my car has ever started
holds idol correctly

raw fuel (ish) smell under load
sounds like (more) crap (i dont know well enough if it is "missing" or not)
**** poor gas mileage, 30 some miles on this tank and lots o gas gone
lacking power in every gear

i have checked my basic connections that usually come loose and lead to poor performance, i dont know where else to look

what are the symptoms of bad gas (insert fart joke) but seriously i think it started after i filled up which may be coincidence or may not be

any help is appreciated

That sucks dude. I have a cylinder 1 misfire I gotta deal with.

But to my old Taurus (a 97 GL) ran horrible on Super America gasoline. It would rough idle and all sorts of crazy stuff, so I stopped going there and filled up almost solely with Holiday and it ran fine.

Well when my MAF took a dump it did not make the CEL come on. It had a real loss of power too so that might be something to look at..

I try and find Shell or Marathon gas stations when I need to fill up if not I'll hit up a Holiday. I've noticed that my Oil is a bit cleaner at 3k when I use Shell or Marathon gas.

Could've lifted some gunk up off the bottom of the tank, check fuel filter.

Not that likely to get that bad of gas to cause it to run that bad, especially if you got it at a place you frequent? Any chance something else could have been put in your tank, your cap locked? Maybe a fuel pressure problem. Check the MAF out. If you cleaned/hosed the engine down or drove in heavy rain with aftermarket plug wires (ask Jeremiah about this scenario:snicker:) you may have water in the plug wells, will def run as you described.

^^ truf

so i would disconnect the maf and see how it runs. if it runs better then the maf is the problem. if not. take the maf out clean with maf cleaner. put back in. check plugs. check plug wells for oil/water. check the dis connections. then i would go with the fuel filter.
if not that check compression....then go from there lol

i will take your car off your hands if you no longer want it:evilgrin:

i was told it was different then just elec. cleaner. but idonno i would give it a shot if it was my car. and with the fuel filter it isnt bad at all. just loosen the hose clamp holding it up in there and then take the two plastic snap clips off on both ends. these usually break but you should get new ones with the new fuel filter. and or just be carfull if your just checkin to see if clogged. and there will be about half a quart of fuel that will run down your arm haha, then when puttin back in prime the fuel pump twice before startin up and you should be good to go.

How about the fuel pressure regulator? You said you smell gas under the hood, its a possibility. My brother had the ****** of one rust out on him and it was leaking gas all over, but it took him a while to realize it.

Have you checked the fuel lines?

I think what every one is forgeting is that we are dealing with a SHO.:omgsho: If your not beating your head a against a wall :banghd:eek:r are bleeding at least once a week, you dont work on your own car.

that being said i would also vote on cleaning the MAF. Hope you get it running.:thumb:

Yes, MAF cleaner is diff. I wouldn't try anything else unless you know for sure it's safe for the sensor, as it may ruin the sensor!
